Hey everyone, i am new to map maker and i was wondering if someone could shed some light on some of the problems i am having. Basically i am trying to load shape files into map maker and edit them so i can get specific acreages. I have successfully loaded the .shp, .mrks, and the database files into MM and i have changed the units so i show Acres. The problem is that the acres say 0.000 but if i look in the database it gives me the correct acreage, i need to take that shp file and edit it at the flags i set with my gps, basically i want to split the shape into different pieces so i can look at different sections and record their acres.
1) You would rather import your shape files to MM native DRA format. Utilities - Vector utilities - Import files - ArcView Shape files etc. Be carefull with the object ID. "Use serial number as object ID" might be the right option.
2) Then load the imported DRA file into the live layer and you'll be able to split the polygons with the cutter tool. Everything should run smoothly unless the topology should be reviewed. Edit - Load file into live layer with data Select the cutter tool and go ahead cutting your polygons into pieces then save the live layer (new filename is recommended) You will have to update the records of your DBF file with MM or MS EXCEL or OOO.
3) Have a look at how data in a DBF file are linked to DRA objects in the manual, the acreage will be recorded in your linked DBF file automatically.
