'Select' option under tools>edit does not appear to be working any more. Clicking, or double-clicking, on the blue dot of an item in the live layer with the move hand showing S does not select the item, though I can edit the item with 'edit'. Drawing a rectangle or circle around several items with 'select' only selects one item out of the several items enclosed.
Probably I have inadvertently switched something else off or on.... any suggestions are very welcome.

We cant replicate this problem. Is it occurring with all object types (polygon, line, point, text)? |

Thanks very much for looking into this.
The problem occurs with polygons and lines, but not with symbols and text. It occurs in existing and blank projects.
Starting with a blank project, the first time I try to select a polygon or line something flashes up but disappears into the top toolbar area almost instantaneously, so I cannot read it. This vanishing 'something' doesn't show on subsequent attempts to select. |

Can you try going to File - System set up - Preferences - Screen, and there un-tick the first option "clean screen", then click OK, and see if that makes any difference? |

Thanks MM. I tried that. Clean screen was un-ticked. Have tried ticking, and un-ticking again and re-booting MM, however the problem remains. |

Hi MM, Your suggestion re screen options prompted me to look again in the selection manager. The problem is resolved by un-ticking all the boxes in selection manager>options. Thanks again for your help. |

Ah. It was probably the "Only select objects entirely within area" option that was producing that result. |
