One of my clients is considering updating his software to MS Office 2010. I am already aware that some functions of Access 2007 do not work in Access 2010 so I am concerned that Map Maker my have problems linking to Access 2010 and Excel 2010.
If anyone has any experience of this I would be grateful to hear of any problems or if my fears are groundless.
I've had a client working with Access 2010 for the past few months with tables and forms linked to the Map Maker project and there seem to be no issues.
You must continue to use the Access 2002/2003 file format (.mdb) and not the new .accdb, although all the functionality of both Office 2007 and 2010 seems to work.
I can’t vouch for Excel 2010 as I don’t tend to use it for data handling but I can see no reason why this wouldn’t work either.
I've used MS Office in a large project with no issues.
However it is worth emphasising (as Chris says) that if you are creating a new MS Access project you must use the 'old' .mdb format. The functionality does work but the 'new' .accdb format is not easily converted back to .mdb, should your client only have the older version.
