Hello,

I was just thinking through the process of trying to extract co-ordinate information from specfically points or lines. My thoughts were that I would need to create a database from the .dra then extract from there. It's a sort of reverse process from loading in a .loc file.
Essentially I would like to get the OS 8 Digit grid ref into a file with the display label,id from the relevant point(s) or lines(s).

Interested to hear any thoughts.

Cheers for now

Gary

You can use Utilities - database utilities - Generate database from DRA, choose the DRA file, then in the dialogue box that follows select the "Seed point" option.

If you want OS grid refs, then first go to Utilities - Vector utilities - Actions, choose the DRA file, then in the dialogue box go to "IDs and labels - Generate display labels based on coordinates", and in the next dialogue box choose one of the UK national grid options. That will set your display label which can then be included in the export to DBF described above.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. That covers what I am trying to achieve. Thanks.

I probably should ask this on another post but I will put it here and move it if necessary. It is basically all for the same project. As a base I am using the OS Open data maps. From a .jpeg map that has ben supplied to me I have calibrated it using reference points from OS Open data map (.Tiff file). I think I am right in saying that the OS map is based on 1km squares. What I also wantd to do was to overlay a 10m grid on top of the vector map that I have created. I have done this by using a technique suggsted in the manual. This was to create a circle then use an option that duplicates this and also you can ask it to create horizontal and vertical lines. I was just wondering is this the best and most accurate way to do this?

Any thoughts as always are interesting to hear.

Thanks

Gary
