I have been given a demo LIDAR .ASC file. The first 6 lines of the file suggest it is a 1000 by 1000 array with a 12 figure OS grid reference for one corner , a "cellsize" of 1 and a "nodata" value of -9999. All the cells then seem to be metre heights ASL.
Any ideas how to render this in Mapmaker? |

These, I believe, use the ESRI ArcGrid format. So change the file extension to *.grd, then in Map Maker use Utilities - 3d surface utilities - Import surface - ArcGrid. |

Marvelous Eric, thanks for that it worked.
Any recommendations for colours etc, whatever default is gives a sepia with little contrast but the area is easily identifiable. It looks like a fantastic resource for archeology.
It did take nearly 4 minutes to render on my P4 2GHz with 1 GB ram and XP, it's 10 years old now, anyone care to venture what I should be upgrading to to be just behind the cutting edge?
