I want to print a map I've created. As scale is not too important at this stage, I have selected the 'Scale map to fit into frame'. Fine it does that, but as the map is based on part of an (UK) OS tile, it previews (and I presume prints) the whole tile - 100 sq km worth. After hours reading the manual, and experimenting with the options under 'Utilities' 'Bitmap utilities' 'Actions' and clipping, trimming and extracting, I feel I am no further forward.
I have succeeded in creating a small part of the OS tile (which is a .tif file), but when it's loaded in as a layer, and I add my polygons on top they don't appear on top of the bitmap image I've created. Mystified I pressed the zoom to map extent and my polygons appeared as a tiny dot at the top of the screen that I had to zoom into.
I'm sure that I must be doing something obviously wrong, but I'm completely stumped.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

Mark,
1) File - Print - Scaled print - Scale map to fit into frame = NO - Simple or Automatic would make it. 2) Your polygons have to be saved to a passive layer of your mapping project. Objects of the live layer will not be printed.
Regards.

Thanks Philippe,
I did eventually get around it by creating a scaled print and by trial and error creating a scale that allowed the map to fit on one sheet of A4.
