Years ago I was able to generate contour bands based on the density (ie. Pts. pr sq. ??M)of individual points on a map. I used a .loc file to generate the points. Of course, now years later I don't remember how I did it, and need to do it again.
Looking at the old MM Pro "The What Is and How to Book", under "How to generate Contours", it directs me to menu item "File-Data-Data Surfaces-Generate Contours". The problem is I don't see any such menu tree today. I don't know if newer versions of MM has changed how it's done.
I've tried the 3d utility to create a "density surface from spot values", but it just creates a terain file that when viewed shows the density peaking in the center of the map.
What I want to do must be a capability in MM, can any one direct me to the appropriate method?
I finally made a little headway. Using the 3d Create Surface using point density, then exporting it to contours. However, it took a lot of trial and error with cell sizes and sample sizes and the results were a lot less than acceptable. Many of the trial runs ended in blank screens. My memory is that it used to be a lot easier and with more satisfactory results in MM 2.
