I already have Pro 3 and will upgrade in due course when I next have a major mapping job to do as the new retained live layer alone makes it worthwhile.

However I have a Mac laptop as well as a Windows PC and am drifting most tasks over to the MAc; is there a version for the Mac, either of Gratis pr Pro?

As it isn't mentioned anywhere I am currently assuming not?

No, there is not. In the past there has been some discussion on using Windows emulation on Macs and apparently some success, see: http://www.latitudecartography.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2280&SearchTerms=mac
