I intend to make the first city map to a city with a miljion inhabitants. But I need help with advice and work, therefore, wonder if someone is willing to help me, I can possibly provide a substitute for work if we manage to finish it. I have just a JPG picture from Google maps and I thought use illustrator CS5.

Dear Badbud,
That is quite an ambitious project you hope to start! I am a map maker and therefore not a legal expert, but I think you will be breaching copyrights when you use Google maps or imagery for commercial projects. I would not touch those if I were you.
If you can specify in detail what type of map you want and what to show in it, I might be able to help. With regards to software: all you need is Map Maker Pro!

Thanks Hanno for the answer. I will use a map or a satellite image of my city from Google maps as a reference. then I will revise the map and set new streets, roads,public buildings and text to different location that is not on Google maps. If I am required by law to buy a picture of Google then I guess I have to do it.
I plan to print the map in future at about 90x 70 cm Florence paper for use as a tourist map or ordinary city map.
