I usually hesitate to use phrases like 'urgent' in posts for help to forums because we all have such matters, but this time I feel even more under pressure with my map-project. Any hint is even more appreciated.
My problem is that I cannot find a clear description how to create a zoomed detail and / or location map. WhatI understand is, that both objects are created not in the template but on top of the current map view or map window. But if the start drawing a box over an map area and select 'zoomed detail' all I get is an empty white rectangle ! Clicking left and right / in and around that rectangle doesn't give result of a zoomed detail. Obviously I do something wrong but what exactly ?
The manual is no help at this point. I use MMpro 3.5 from April 2011

Dear Gertrude,
This is how I would do it: -I assume you have ‘calibrated’ your screen: Top Menu: File, System set-up, Screen calibration –so that you can measure cm on your screen which are true to scale.- Step 1: Create an overview map onscreen in Map Maker just like you would with a normal map, but the scale is such that your entire overview map will fit into the template box dealing with the overview map that we will make in step 2.The centre of your screen will become the centre on your print, so I suggest you turn the “screen centre cross” on: Top menu: Navigate, Screen grid, Show centre. Save this map as a project. Step 2 is indeed the template; Create one with the ‘main map frame’ and a second one for a “*geo” . You are asked to browse for a geo: select the overview map you have just made. Save template. Sometimes when you move the project overview map box in the template you ‘lose’ the link to the GEO, you need to pick that up afresh and save the template again. Step 3: Go to your normal map project, and print it with this template.
Job done. Success

Thanks for the information. In the meanwhile I found Gerhards manual pages from Ghana, where that subject is also described in more detail than in the MM-manual.
But at present the most serious problem is the print matter (please see my other post to the forum). I will continue reading in Gerhards manual but perhaps you have an idea what might cause my problem. |
