Hi folks,
Can anyone advise how I can generate a polygon or object at a given point on the map, but of a size/diameter dictated by a data value in an excel table (e.g. to represent crown size of a tree or root protection area around a stem, based on survey data).
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

Not sure what you want to do.
I had a similar problem. I needed to create two sample plot sizes, one a circle of 11m diameter, and and another of 16m diameter.
I created two styles of hollow circles, one 11m diameter on the ground and another for 16m on the ground.
When I enter the point on the map, the styles box comes up, and I choose the appropriate sized circle.
If you have many points produced by GPS, and imported into your plan:
1) Save all the points as a separate layer (RPA for example) 2) Make RPA live layer 3) Right click anywhere on the plan, and choose 'Live layer actions' 4) 'Basic operations' 5) Set all objects to one style 6) Choose the style.
Once the layer is saved all RPA's should be the same size circles.
If you have MM Pro, you can use the selection manager which is a more subtle approach.
Hope it helps.
Cheers

Hello Gary,
Assuming x's and y's of the stems are in an Excel file(1), you could load a project, then go to any (x,y), one by one..., zoom to any scale using MMMacro... See :
... then draw a buffer zone of a specified width around the point object using the Edit tool (Actions tab/Create buffer zone). I'm not sure that MMMacro can draw buffer zones of specifed width around a given object id. If there are hundreds of stems, I would rather create some LOC file of the buffer zones with Excel.
(1) If cordinates are not yet exported to the XLS/DBF file, then add two columns and then see Utilities/Database utilities/Update table from vector file.
Bon courage!
