I thought this news may be of interest to anyone using Scottish OS maps.

The Map Library of Scotland [part of the National Library of Scotland NLS] are from 2 April 2013 offering a new service of paper or digital copies [400 dpi colour tiff images] of in-copyright [within the last 50 years] but superseded paper maps. From September 2013 they are 'expecting to be able to supply geo-referenced images' too. So no need to calibrate a .jpg!! The cost will be normal copying & p/p charges plus an OS copyright fee.

The NLS prices are considerably less than the 2 [licensed partner' companies to whom the OS outsourced the facility when they abruptly withdrew the superseded library licence in April 2013.

It's easier and cheaper to use the Mapmaker prepared OS tiles.
