Is there any way to make the boundary lines around polygons translucent? I have to place an obvious boundary on top of an OS raster backdrop and the lines partly obscure the place names. I have the fill of the polygon set to Empty Fill. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes there are options: 1- Use a dashed line, but then also go to the ‘Effects’ tab and tick both ‘Translucent’ boxes. 2- Select the option ‘No line’, go the ‘Effects’ tab and chose a ‘coloured band’ as a line (-say 3 mm wide-); this too will be translucent. (it takes its colour from the ‘fill’ tab).
Thank you very much for the advice. I have used the dashed line solution as I have a few polygons with common boundaries. When I tried the "coloured band" solution I got a line of double thickness on the common boundaries and single thickness on the single boundaries which I thought looked a bit odd. For only one polygon it would have been ideal.
I agree, but then... set the right hand effect to 0.25mm width set the left hand effect also to 0.25 mm width, and you end up with a perfectly normal 0.5 mm thick border line!
